Kathleen Webb

Kathleen Webb was legally blind, and for as long as her family can remember, she was up early. Almost every single morning, she was awake around 5:15am. Faithfully. Before the house stirred, before the day demanded anything of her, she was already up, already moving, already fighting for the day ahead of her.

On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 5:15am, Kathleen woke up for the last time in this world and opened her eyes in heaven.

Kathleen was born July 20, 1943, in the Bronx, New York, legally blind from birth. She never once let that stop her. She was married to the love of her life, Roger on June 5, 1965. While Roger was alive, she loved playing the piano and the accordion, and together they would visit nursing homes to play music and encourage the residents there.

When her husband, Roger, suddenly passed away at just 42, she became the sole provider for her daughter, Christine, without her sight, and without complaint. She worked several jobs to keep the family going. She was a tough cookie. She was stubborn. She was a fighter. She never used her limitations as an excuse to quit, and she never stopped showing up, morning after morning, at 5:15.

For over 20 years, Kathleen served as a lead teacher at the Pelham Children's Center, where she had a deep passion for children and poured into them the same determination and love she poured into her own family. She even went back to school, earning her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Westchester Community College in 1998. In 2000, she received a prestigious “Joey” award and even recognition from a member of Congress for her outstanding contributions to early childhood education.

In 2007, Kathleen moved to The Villages, Florida, where she lived and cared for her own mother until her mother's passing in 2015. She later lived at Sterling Court in Deltona, and finally at Good Samaritan, now known as Blue Palms Assisted Living Facility, in DeLand, where she made countless friends along the way. At Blue Palms, she became president of the Resident's Council, still leading, still showing up, still faithful. She loved a good game of Skip-Bo. She loved the people around her fiercely.

But her most important passion, above everything else, was her faith in Jesus Christ. Every morning, she would spend time reading her devotionals, reading her Bible, and listening to sermons. Her favorite Bible verse was Isaiah 41:10, and her favorite hymns were "It Is Well With My Soul" and "Standing on the Promises of God."

Here is the gospel, plain and simple. Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose again, so that everyone who believes in Him has eternal life. Not eternal life someday, maybe, if we're good enough. Eternal life now, secured, settled, the moment we put our trust in Him. Kathleen believed that. She knew the Lord. She is in heaven, healed, free of pain, and reunited with her husband.

As she crossed over into heaven, the hymn "The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power" was playing. It felt like heaven's welcome, a reminder that it was the blood of Jesus that had already covered every one of her days and was carrying her home. Kathleen's favorite hymn was "It Is Well With My Soul," and there are no truer words for this moment. Whatever comes, whatever the storm, it is well with her soul. It is well.

Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Christine (husband Don), her “furry” grandchildren, Caleb Thomas and Onyx Thomas, her sister Virginia (husband Jerry), and her brother George (wife Rose). She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger, and her parents, Marie and George.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, September 12th, at 2:00pm at Blue Palms Senior Living, The Chapel in the Wilson Building, 450 N. McDonald Ave, DeLand, FL 32724. All are encouraged to wear purple, Kathleen's favorite color.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, but the greatest gift you could give in honor of Kathleen is not a donation at all. It is this. Give your heart to Jesus and make Him your Lord and Savior. That was the one thing Kathleen wanted more than anything for the people she loved. Do that, and one day, you will see her again in heaven.

It is well with her soul.
