David John MacLagan

David John MacLagan, 77, of DeLand, Florida passed away December 14th, 2023. He was born June 19, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Park Forest, Illinois where he graduated from Rich East High School. He served in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam combat veteran. He followed with a career in many professions, he was an excellent wood worker and completed his career when he retired as a building inspector for Volusia County. Over his working years, he also volunteered dressing up as Santa and the Easter Bunny for his grandchildren and local community charitable groups including the Sorosis Club of Orange City, Boggy Creek Camp for children and convalescent centers.
He is survived by Reba, his loving wife of 38 years, his sons Jeff, Marty and his daughter Kathy, his 8 grandchildren, Danielle, Kyle, Zach, Dylan, Alexa, Maddie, Madison, Noah and his 3 great grandchildren, Christopher, Addison and Connor. Special acknowledgement to his first granddaughter Danielle, his "dani-yell", who he loved as a daughter.
He enjoyed spending time with his family at home, his nightly triple martini and eating a (whole) cherry pie. He was an avid dog lover. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local animal shelter in his name. At David's request, no funeral service will be held. A celebration of life will be planned in the near future.
