James Leland Dawkins, Jr. 66 years of age passed away on February 2, 2024. He lived a rich and fulfilling life surrounded by friends and family who cared deeply for him. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Leland Dawkins and Iona Lesley. Left to cherish his memory is a brother, Danny Lesley, a sister, Rebecca Sue Christian Dawkins and countless friends J.D.'s contributions through his work with Bell South, County of Volusia, and City of Lake Helen, as well as his self-employed endeavors with Daves Tree Service and Charlie Reeves Tree Service, reflect a dedicated and hard working man.
He lived by his own rules and loved the outdoors. Whether it be air boating, hunting, or fishing, spending time with his dogs and horses, suggests he had a passion for nature and adventure. J.D.'s generosity and willingness to help others in times of need demonstrate the kind and compassionate person he was, leaving a positive impact on those around him.
Rest in peace brother, and may his memory continue to bring comfort to those who knew and loved him during this difficult time.
